Hey friends, My Name is Emily, I've been an animal lover for as long as I can remember. My childhood consisted of me finding sick animals to bring home and care for, running around befriending any critter I could find, begging my parents for a new setup, or helping out in my Uncle's vet clinic. I've always loved working with terrestrial animals but when I was  in high school, I discovered the magical aquatic world, I focused my studies on marine biology, and dived into the aquarium industry not looking back. I've been in the industry for over 5 Years working in small local retailers, breeding facilities, and wholesalers. During my time in the industry and even when I was starting the hobby myself I noticed how much inaccurate and contradicting information was out there.  This left me feeling defeated and like I was wasting money and failing my animals. I was doing what I thought was right but my pets kept dying and I couldn't figure out why. That's when I learned that the "aquarium safe" product I had just bought was actually toxic or that beautiful variegated plant wasn't truly aquatic and would turn into a toxic ball of waste in a few weeks. This experience led me to create Gemm Aquatics, I strive to only stock 100% pet-safe products from decorations down to food. Here at Gemm Aquatics, it's my goal to educate animal owners on the animals they keep and to ensure the animal's needs are in their best interest. We can't do better if we don't know better.
